Cycle tracks off-road
There are heaps of tracks through the forests locally.
Visit Surrey offer some ideas as do some local enthusiasts such as these.
If you enter your postcode, Sustrans maps can also suggest local routes.
Around Francis Corner in the Sheepleas area, there are concrete tracks that connect up to the North Downs Way. They were built during the Second World War by the Canadian Pioneer Corps and enabled the movement of large numbers of military personnel and equipment prior to D-Day 1944.
Alice Holt Forest, GU10 4LS. Heaps of trails for all levels.
Bracknell Lookout Discovery Centre RG12 7QW also has heaps of cycle trails.
Bookham Common is fantastic for cycling with children and also has a natural adventure playground.
Tilgate Park near Crawley has some lovely parkland you can cycle round and a fabulous playground. There is also a nature centre and petting zoo with a wide variety of animals.
Fruit picking
Garsons Farm, Esher, KT10 8LS. Garden centre with farm shop and restaurant, as well as a PYO farm. They also have reindeer at Christmas.
Gardens and woodland
There are so many beautiful National Trust properties and other gardens like Wisley and Painshill Park around Horsley. Most hold great activities and themed trails for kids over the school holidays. For more details read here.
Rivers and streams
There is a lovely stream just off the main road of Abinger Hammer in the Surrey Hills, where kids can mess about with fishing nets or boat races. There is plenty of space for a picnic with family and friends. The same river is accessible in the picturesque village of Shere too.

Walking and trail running
We are incredibly fortunate to have amazing countryside around us. There are numerous paths and trails on our doorsteps, many of which are under 30 minutes drive.

Wineries and distilleries
Denbies is a family-run vineyard near Dorking and Boxhill, selling award-winning wine. They offer indoor and outdoor tours and hold various events throughout the year, including activities for kids in the school holidays.
Painshill produces Sparkling Rosé (a blend of classic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes) and Sparkling White (100% Seyval Blanc grapes) which are available in their shop. They use handpicked grapes from the Painshill restored vineyard, which flourished between approximately 1740 and 1812 as part of the 18th century landscape gardens created by the Honourable Charles Hamilton.
Silent Pool Gin. Situated off the A25 near Albury, you can take tours around the distillery. This has been set up by local Horsley parents.
