Bracknell Look-out discovery centre RG12 7QW

A hands-on science centre and soft play for pre-schoolers and primary school children. They host educational workshops and have a large outdoor play area, cafe, den building and off-road cycle tracks.

Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, KT13 0QN. This museum coined “The Birthplace of British Motorsport and Aviation” has a large collection of aircraft, motorcycles, and cars. There are activities for kids. During school holidays they hold Kids Tours on Concorde, London Bus Museum bus trips, Bertie Bear, Summer Science Clubs and Pedal Planes.

Dapdune Wharf Guildford GU1 4RR. Run by the National Trust, there are boat trips throughout the summer down the River Whey. They leave roughly every hour and last 40 minutes with volunteer skippers describing the history of the area en route.

There are various walking trails along the length of the river, and a canoe trail from Guildford to St Catherine’s.

Dorking South Street Caves, Dorking RH4 1BS . This is part of the Dorking museum below. Open tours run a few times over a day approximately once a month.

Dorking museum, RH4 1BS, run family friendly activities on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 2.00pm – 4.00pm.  These afternoons are ideal for families with children up to the age of 10. No pre-booking required. They are generally free but you will need to pay normal museum admission charges (£2 adults, 5-18 yrs £1, under 5s free).

London Bus Museum, Cobham Halls, Weybridge, KT13 0QS. This houses the world’s largest collection of historic London buses, covering 150 years of development – from the horse-drawn buses of the 1870s to the driver-operated, rear-engined 70-seaters of the 1970s. This is by the Brooklands museum. One ticket covers entrance to both.

There is a hands-on science exhibition with features such as the Colon Cafe and Stem Cell Cascade, as well as a “Sneak Peake” where you can explore our planet from an astronaut’s view.
