Art & Crafts

sculpture park 1Sculpture park, Farnham GU10 2LH. I love this place. A bit further afield but great with or without kids. Amazing sculptures set in beautiful woodland with some fun trails for kids. You can take a picnic and there is a great gastro pub with a fire just opposite the parking.

Appletree Studio, ceramics cafe in Bishopsmead, East Horsley.  A great place to design hand painted ceramic gifts. Highly recommended by many parents.

Farnham Maltings GU9 7QR hold a variety of art & crafts, musical events and shows. They hold specific activities for kids over the school holidays, like African drumming and circus skills.

Woking Lightbox GU21 4AA similarly hold a variety of events and exhibitions for families, such as storytelling and painting for the under 5’s, balloon modelling for older children, art exhibitions, films and history trails. They also offer creative classes for adults living with dementia, adults affected by mental health issues, those that are homeless and for patients at Woking and Sam Beare hospice.

Grange Park Opera at West Horsley Place. Opened for the first time this year (2017).

Opera in the park over the summer at Hatchlands

Guildford festivals over the summer such as the annual ‘Cheese and chilli festival, the Always in the sun festival, “an independent three-day event celebrating music, arts, community; and green living”.

Everyman-Cinema-in-WaltonEveryman cinema, Esher KT10 9RT. This wonderful art house cinema has plush velvet double seats. You can take in wine and food from the bar/cafe downstairs. My favourite cinema locally.

Odeon Guildford, GU1 4SJ

Curzon country cinema. This is the Curzon art  house cinema brought to Surrey. Films are held at various locations. Our closest are Ripley at the village hall GU23 6AF and Great Bookham, at the Old Barn Hall KT23 3PQ.

Shere village cinema, a local not-for-profit cinema, hold screenings twice a month.

Guildford Fringe Film Club launched January 2017, they meet the last Sunday of every month at the Back Room of The Star Inn, Quarry Street, Guildford, GU1 3TY @ 7.30pm.
