Alice HoltGU10 4LS. You can walk, cycle, play or have a picnic in these lovely woods. There are heaps of fun trails for all levels and a great outdoor playground. You just pay for parking. It does get very crowded at peak times. There is a cafe on site and you can do high ropes at the Go Ape (pictured).

Archery Tag held at Sutton Green Garden Centre, near Jacobswell, Guildford, GU4 7QA. Archery Tag is a friendly combat sport using bows and special reusable foam tipped arrows. It is similar in concept to paintball. The rules are similar to dodgeball.

Chessington World of Adventures, Leatherhead Road, Chessington,KT9 2NE. Boasts a zoo with over a 1000 animals including lions, tigers and giraffes, a theme park with over 40 rides and attractions and a Sealife centre.  They hold live shows and events. You can buy an off-peak membership for pre-school children which is reasonable value or annual passes. Day tickets are much cheaper if bought on-line in advance.

Delta Force Paintball, Effingham KT11 1NL. For kids over 10 years and adults. They have 2 locations locally less than a mile apart in Effingham.

hobbledown picture.jpgHobbledown, in Horton Park, near Epsom KT19 8PT. This has one of the best soft plays that I have ever been to, a small farm with meerkats and more unusual animals, a zip wire, loads of tunnels and tubes to climb in and under, sand play where you try and collect green gems and outdoor trampolines. It is great for older kids as well as little ones.

Horse riding

Shetland Pony Club, Stoke d’Abernon, near Cobham. They offer pony riding to kids from 2.5 years.

Running

Park Run GuildfordThey organise 5km runs held every Saturday @ 9am, in Stoke Park, GU1 1ER

Other nearby park runs are at Woking, Frimley Lodge, Cranleigh, Rushmoor, Homewood, Alice Holt, Bracknell, Bedfont Lakes, Bushy Park, Reigate Priory.

Skiing 

The Guildford Ski Slope, Guildford GU1 1JY. Located just 5 minutes off the A3, they offer donutting, skiing, snowboarding and children’s parties.

Sandown Ski Centre, Esher KT10 8ANThey run a ski club for kids, group & private lessons for adults & kids, & open skiing on week days for competent skiers. You will need to check their website or ring them to plan you trip. They also host children’s parties.

Treetop adventure

Wild Wood adventure, Stoke Park, Guildford GU1 1HB. Thrilling treetop adventure walks with rope bridges, wobbly crossings and zip wires high up between the trees for those 11+ and over 1.4m tall. A lower course with a tower and a run of obstacles, bridges, balancing across logs, swinging on ropes and whizzing on a zip wires for those aged 6-12 years and over 1m tall.
